Hidden Valley

Hidden Valley is exactly what its name promises: a whole neighborhood tucked behind the hills east of the airport, invisible from the rest of Reno. Around the private country club at its center spread large lots, mature trees, single-story ranches and custom estates, with wild horses wandering down from the Virginia Range foothills like they still hold the deed.

Lending here is established-neighborhood work: conventional on the classic ranch stock, jumbo on the custom and golf-adjacent estates, HELOCs on decades of quietly built equity, and Reverse (HECM) done carefully for the long-time owners who intend to stay right where they are. Condo and townhome pockets widen the entry door too.

Geography keeps it convenient while it feels remote: Pembroke Drive and Mira Loma connect through to Veterans Parkway, Reno-Tahoe International is about ten minutes, and the 480-acre Hidden Valley Regional Park at the neighborhood’s edge brings trails, the Link Piazzo Dog Park and a public horse arena to the doorstep.

Hidden Valley began on the 900-acre Birbeck Ranch, where four businessmen, all World War II veterans including Reno sporting-goods legend Link Piazzo, founded the Hidden Valley Country Club in 1956. The surrounding land sold for subdivision in 1960 and the neighborhood filled in through the 1970s, while Washoe County opened the 480-acre Hidden Valley Regional Park on former federal land in 1969. Piazzo lived out his 95 years at home in the valley, and the wild horses still come down through the sagebrush he knew.
