Downtown North Las Vegas is where the city started, the blocks along Las Vegas Boulevard North where Thomas L. Williams settled in 1919 and where the town incorporated in 1946 with 2,875 residents on 2.31 square miles. Today it is the city's civic and cultural heart, City Hall on the boulevard, Jerry's Nugget dealing cards since 1964, and Broadacres Marketplace drawing tens of thousands every weekend.

The corridor carries a proud Hispanic business culture, family-owned restaurants, mercados, and the swap-meet energy of Broadacres, which the Bowman family opened on four acres in 1977 and which has grown into a full marketplace with live music and fair-style weekends. Thomas L.
