Spring Creek is Elko County's big master-planned community, laid out in the 1970s by C.V. Wood of McCulloch Oil, the same planner behind Lake Havasu City. Four tracts and more than 5,400 association lots fill a valley between the Elko Hills and the Ruby Mountains, about ten miles southeast of Elko on the Lamoille Highway.

The developers handed the community to its residents in 1981, and the Spring Creek Association still runs the marina, golf course, and horse facilities. Around 15,000 people live here, most commuting to Elko or the Carlin Trend mines, on parcels that give you room for horses, shops, and toys.

Practical texture: association dues and well-and-septic details belong in the payment math from day one, and acreage parcels can price differently than town lots. Much of Elko County commonly maps to USDA-eligible territory; Art confirms eligibility for the exact address before you count on it.

For families wanting land without leaving services behind, Spring Creek is the county's default answer. Ask Art for a current read on the market before you write an offer.

“Acreage, wells, septic, association dues: I price all of it into your real payment before you fall in love with a parcel.”
Art Loera · Reno resident since 1988

Ranchland below the Rubies became a planned community when a Texas developer assembled the ground in the late 1960s and C.V. Wood's team drew four tracts across the valley in the 1970s.

Buyers were flown in by the planeload, the covenants required turnover to residents, and in 1981 the association took the keys. The mining booms filled the lots.
